Shining at FLOMEKO 2026: Goldcard & Tancy Drive Global Breakthroughs in Metrology Core Technology-1

From May 17 to 20, the 20th International Flow Measurement Conference (FLOMEKO 2026) was held in Nara, Japan. As one of the most influential and authoritative academic events in the global flow measurement field, FLOMEKO brought together leading international scholars and industry leaders to explore cutting-edge technologies and market trends. Dr. Zhu Hao, Deputy Director of the Technology Research Institute of Goldcard Smart Group Co., Ltd. (Goldcard), and Tao Chaojian, Chief Engineer, attended the conference and delivered technical presentations, showcasing Goldcard and Tancy’s cutting-edge research and technical capabilities in the field of metrology to international peers.

Dr. Zhu Hao delivered a presentation titled “A Novel Diagnostic Method of Tube Stiffness Measurement for a Coriolis Mass Flowmeter.” The report introduced a new diagnostic technology for measuring tube stiffness in Coriolis mass flowmeters, offering advantages over traditional methods. The technology enables early warning and accurate detection of performance degradation caused by corrosion and wear during flowmeter operation, significantly improving long-term reliability and operation and maintenance efficiency. With this breakthrough, Tancy has become the fourth company in the world—following Emerson, Endress+Hauser, and Yokogawa Electric—to master this core technology with independent patents. This marks China’s entry into the world’s elite tier of high-end diagnostic technology for flow measurement instruments.

Chief Engineer Tao Chaojian delivered a presentation titled “Study on Metering Performance of Gas Turbine Flowmeter in Different Media,” sharing experimental insights into the metering performance of gas turbine flowmeters under different media and pressure conditions. Leveraging the company’s own flow standard facilities and those of the Zhejiang Institute of Quality Science, Tancy has built a new high-pressure combustible gas flow testing platform. The team has successfully completed multi-condition testing for nitrogen, hydrogen, and nitrogen-hydrogen blends. In the next stage, tests will be conducted on methane, hydrogen, and their combustible gas mixtures, further deepening research into metering under complex gas-source conditions.

In addition, a team led by Dr. Ding Yuanming, Deputy Director of the Technology Research Institute, presented a poster paper at the conference titled “Study on Propagation and Reduction of Flow-Induced Noise from Regulator for Ultrasonic Flowmeters.” Focusing on the industry challenge of flow-induced noise from regulators interfering with ultrasonic metering, the team used simulation modeling to reveal the generation and propagation mechanisms of regulator noise. The team also innovatively developed a composite noise-reduction structure that can significantly improve the signal-to-noise ratio of ultrasonic flowmeters, reducing flowmeter indication error caused by noise interference from 1.24% to 0.22% and greatly optimizing repeatability. This provides a pioneering solution for anti-interference, high-precision, and stable ultrasonic metering under gas pressure regulation conditions.

Our presence at FLOMEKO 2026 represents both authoritative recognition from the international metrology community of our R&D capabilities and a powerful step forward for China’s flow measurement technology on the global stage. Looking ahead, Goldcard and Tancy will continue to focus on core technologies in flow measurement, drive industry advancement through cutting-edge innovation, and contribute “Chinese Momentum” to the high-quality development of the global flow metering industry.
